These immigration paths are sometimes referred to as "Passive" streams because candidates can apply only after being selected through one of these searches.

To be invited to apply for provincial nomination by one of these streams, the immigration candidates must first enter a profile in the Express Entry Pool.

Express entry candidates who apply for a provincial nomination and receive them are given additional 600 points towards their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and later for an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency in Express Entry Effectively to the front of the invitation is the round of invitations.

Provincial immigration streams used for exploring the express entry pool:

Nova Scotia

  • Labour Market Priorities Stream
Alberta Ontario
  • Human Capital Priorities Stream
  • French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
  • Skilled Trades Stream

Nova Scotia:

  • The Labor Market Priority Stream of Nova Scotia is used to find the occasional search of Express Entry Pool for candidates with work experience in specified occupations facing labor constraints in the province.
  • Two searches have been conducted by the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) since its creation in August 2018. The first search was for early childhood teachers and assistants and the second one was conducted on January 24, targeting financial auditors and accountants.
  • Selected entries through the 24 January draws were required for at least five years of related work experience in the form of CRS points between 400 and 450 and financial auditors and accountants.
Alberta, NOVA SCOTIA, Ontario

Alberta:

  • The Express Entry Stream of Alberta, which was introduced last year, contains at least 300 CRS score and requires that the Express Entry candidates are working in a business that is "among the other criteria" of Alberta's economic development and diversification Supports ".
  • Candidates with a job offer and/or work experience in Alberta, a Canadian Post-Secondary Institute and/or a parent, child or alumnus already living in Alberta, will receive the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) Prioritization can be given to NOI.
  • However, AINP warns, that the Express Entry Profile which ends three months before or after the date of a given draw cannot be considered.
  • In the seven draws organized through Alberta's Express Entry Stream last year, the choice of express entry candidates was low in CRS score 301.
  • Alberta says that it will provide information about future draws from its express entry stream when the federal government will know the nomination allocation of 2019.

Ontario:

  • Among the three express entry-linked streams of Ontario, the largest number of candidates have been invited by the Human Capital Priority in 2019 so far. The stream released 1,493 Notifications of Interest (NOI) on January 14th at its last draw in Express Entry candidates with CRS scores ranging from 439 to 448
  • Find Human Capital Preferences Streams are limited to candidates in the Federal Skilled Worker Class and Canadian Experience Class, which meet its provincial and federal eligibility requirements.
  • While a job offer or French language proficiency is not among these requirements, Ontario has occasionally held targeted searches through the Human Capital Priorities Stream for Express Entry candidates with these qualifications. These searches saw less than the minimum CRS score of 350 for the target job-offers draw of August 9.
  • Two other express entry streams of Ontario - French-Speaking Skill Worker Stream and Skilled Trades Stream - have also been active this year, which so far issued 560 notices combined with interest NOI.
