8th Mar, 2019 PR Visa, Canada

  • This is the very big news for candidates who created their profile in Express Entry pool because Canada organized a new Express Entry draw on March 6, which included 3,350 invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 454.
  • So far this year, they have seen both sizes of draws and the time between the draw is quite different, while the total number of issued ITAs continues in all the years.

  • ITAs was 59% lesser in 2018 than in 2017 and it was 55% higher than 2018 in 2019.
  • At the end of last year, Canada saw the record 89,800 ITA, a milestone expected by the federal government that this year the entry-managed federal-trained worker class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class Enhancement Classes Will cross.
  • Only those candidates are admitted in the Express Entry pool who meet the eligibility criteria for these categories, where they issued CRS score awarded for factors such as their age, education, work experience and language test in English or French.
  • March 6, cut-off CRS score is 454 was a decrease of three points over the minimum score of 457 in the previous draw held on February 20.
  • IRCC invites a set number of the highest-scoring candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada through regular draws from the pool.
  • Less time between draw means less time to re-fill with high scoring candidates in the Express Entry Pool, which can have an impact on reducing cut-off scores.

  • On March 6 draw the IRCC applied its tie-break rule and the time stamp used was February 11, 2019, at 17:21:27 UTC. It means that the candidates with CRS score above 454 or as well as 454 who entered their profile in Express Entry pool before selected date and time, received an ITA in this invitation round.
  • Express Entry candidates are nominated for a Canadian permanent residency by a Canadian province or region, who earn an additional 600 points for their ranking score, effectively giving ITA assurances later in the Express entry draw.
  • In the last two weeks, a draw has been observed in Manitoba, British Columbia and Prince Edward Island, which has targeted Express Entry candidates.
  • To be considered for nomination by any of these provinces, most express entry candidates must register a separate Expression of Interest profile with the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program, British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program or the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program.
