1. Alberta Opportunity Stream:

Eligibility Requirements:

1) Residency Status and work permit requirements:

Applicants should have a valid work permit for a qualified business. LMIs may be exempt for workers based on the allowance determined by the valid work permit Positive Labor Market Impact Assessment, IRCC and Post Graduate Work Permit Holder.


2) Occupation requirements:

The applicant must work in a character business in Alberta.

The applicant must work in a business that matches the previous work experience.


3) Language Proficiency:

Minimum CLB 4 for each English language skill.


4) Education Requirements:

Applicant must have completed minimum high school education.


5) Post-Graduation Work Permit holders:

The applicant must be relevant in his field of practice in the current business Alberta. If the applicant is enrolled in the Alberta Credential Program, your credentials must be on Alberta Technical List of Alberta Advanced Education's Post-Secondary credentials.


6) Work Experience requirements:

Within the last 18 months, the applicant must have at least one-year full-time experience in Alberta's current business.

In the last 30 months, applicants should have at least 2 years full-time experience in your current business in Canada or abroad.


2. Alberta Express Entry Stream:

This stream enables the Government of Alberta to nominate eligible candidates from Canada's Express Entry system. There are 600 extra-wide ranking system points in this fruitful selection under this stream.

Applicants who have strong connections to Alberta and who can support the government's economic development, will receive Alberta’s interest notice.

Eligible applicants will be selected directly from AIPP from Express Entry Pool.

Under this section international graduates will also be considered.

3. Self – Employed Farmer Stream:

Applicant must meet the following criteria.

a) Farm Management Skills:

Candidates will have to show that they have farm management skills.
The evidence can be included, but is not limited to:

  • Financial documentation of a current farm business.
  • Documentation of education, training and work experience.
  • A proposed business strategy for the farming enterprise you are considering about Alberta.
  • Proof that the Canadian financial institution is ready to fund your proposed farming business.
b) Financial Resources:

Candidates must have the capacity to contribute at least CDN $500,000 of equity in a primary production farming business in Alberta.


c) Primary Production Investment:

Candidates must document their asset plans in proposed business ideas.
